subjects of hard sciences by focusing on the subtle complexity of human behavior patterns both
in theory and practice. The emerging global phenomena are reshaping individual and collective
human behavior due to constantly evolving political, economic and cultural scenario. Pakistani
society also faces the challenges of such transformations; therefore, it is pertinent to critically
reflect upon the contemporary socio-global transitions and their implications on individual,
social and global levels. There is a need of deep understanding of the existing challenges to look

Keeping in view the above scenario, Virtual University of Pakistan has taken a step forward and
is pleased to announce the 1st International conference on “Social Sciences and Humanities in the
New Millennium: Challenges and Prospects” in collaboration with Lahore College for
Women University, Lahore to be held from 14-16 December, 2017. The conference will provide
a platform for deliberations and discussions with a focus on to ponder upon policy level possible
changes to be implemented in the academia in particular and the society in general. The purpose
of this conference is to explore new horizons for Social Sciences and Humanities understanding
their unique perspectives and draw attention to the possible challenges of the new millennium for
Pakistan. It will also furnish a foundation of a useful forum for the participants to share their
experiences and get hold of opportunities leading to extended collaboration in the field of Social
Sciences and Humanities among individuals and institutions.
The objectives of the conference are as under:
